Starting January 1, 2025, California’s Assembly Bill 2004 introduces a vital update for notaries and residents alike. If you have an electronic document that needs to be recorded in a county not accepting e-recordings (like Yolo County), there’s now a solution!
A disinterested custodian—someone not involved in the document—can certify that a printed version of an electronic record is a true and accurate copy. This certification must be notarized with a jurat, affirming under oath that the document hasn’t been tampered with.
Many notaries are still catching up with this new law, but at Seal of Approval Mobile Notary & Apostille Services, we’re already well-versed and ready to assist!
Need help navigating this new process? We’re mobile, knowledgeable, and here to ensure your documents are handled correctly.
